Does anyone know how one would be able to extract sounds from .avi files, preferably in the .wav format? I've been looking for a while and I have the feeling the program that can be used is incredibly standard, but I'm still in the dark about it so far which program it is exactly. So does anyone here know?

hmm i just use quicktime, it has a copy and paste option on macs anyway... though iMovie is another good tool, i think that Rioport sound jam is the best thing out there for turning one sound file into another or extracting parts of sound files, if used in combination with QuicktimeMovieplaeyr you have professional stuff, if used in correlation with that AND iMovie you've got entertainment...

Gracias! I think this is a very interesting tool indeed. Is this program divx dependent, btw? As in, do I need to download a new version every time a new divx codec is released?

It seems that all I need is a mp3 acm codec to play the files in Winamp, curious if I need something extra to use those created .wav files in CoolEdit. But thanks!
