I haven't been able to get on for quite some time and when I was able to get on now, I wondered if we're on the new server.

Nope, not yet.... but probably next week or someday... someone probably knows it better than me, I'm just upping my postcount...

j/k:)

Uh, now i'm not so sure anymore. Either the internet just sped up big time over here, or Z finished. I'm confused.

Galadria 03-21-2002 09:22 AM

Well RBF, I'm confused, too. I certainly am getting better speed. BUT, flood control is still on.

No, this is not the new server. He have yet to purchase that.
This is still the old one, but it is opened for now, so that people can see it.
But if it gets too big again, with too many members and visitors, the servers owner will shut us down again... :(
AFAIK, the new server should be up some time this weekend.

see ya!

That's what I figured. It's faster, but definitely not 400% faster. I can't really think on how fast this place is going to be. I'm pretty sure Z's already ordered the server already, it just hasn't gotten to him yet.

Don't expect tooo big a speed increase, CPU is not the only driving factor in response time, net traffic is another big factor. How busy is the internet on the route you take to reach the server? We will see good performance gains and we should not see slow downs due to sticky threads and lots of posts. But network traffic will still be able to bring us to a crawl.

Thank you for your newfound optimism. j/k. You can be a little bit more optimistic Magik. Seriously from what Z's been saying everyone's going to notice some sort of difference. Didn't he say that in the post right above mine? Yup he sure did.

Well, we can all be patient and thankful that at least we are up some.
