It is about a year since I started posting here at Ironworks (I lurked for a while too). I guess that makes me an IW veteran and elder!

I would like to share some of my thoughts and memories with you.

I remember when the board used to be blue. It had little stars, like the TGE site. These were the days before mods, before PMs, before stability - ah yes, stability. We had crashes. We lost whole threads in the ether. There was regular panic and confusion.

But in between those moments of disruption there was a friendly place in cyberspace - small and welcoming, like a family. Ironworks. We had our share of trolls and flamers, which board doesn't? We didn't have general discussions - we had 'Off Topic' threads in amongst the gaming queries. 30 posts was considered an inordinate length for a thread. All the posts in a thread appeared on one page, so you just kept scrolling down to read on. I don't recall that we had signature pictures, and there were no ranks.

And what about the inhabitants of this wonderful realm?
Ziroc of course, and Choc. Cloudy was a newbie - she joined while I was a lurker. Accord was the gaming expert, able to answer pretty much any query. Memnoch and Yorick, always helpful, friendly and wise. Rikard and Jerome, verbal sparring partners and evil-smiting fun. Ertai, knowledgeable and helpful. Charlie with his amazing wit and sense of humour - the Shoppe of Shite will be remembered forever (Pixie Prick anyone?). Turbovee, Stealthy, Draconia, Armisael, Tobbin, Wah - some of those I remember from the early days who have vanished to RL or can only put in the occassional appearance. SirGwayne who made my bard picture. LadyZekke, Moiraine and Melusine - it was reading the posts from these three smart and witty women that finally made me decide to take the plunge and post, knowing that I was not going to be laughed at or booted out because I was a gamer who happened to be female (having heard that such things happen at some gaming sites). There are many others. I'm sorry if you were missed, it is not intentional.

These are my impressions of the Ironworks that existed a year ago. I hope everyone gets as much pleasure from their time here as I have!

Here's to Ironworks, may there be many more years to come!

You are lucky to have been here so long. I wish I were here those days.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you have had a great time here, and I wish you many more great IW-years here.
CONGRATS!</font>

That's cool Epona, that you've stayed here for so long, and remember everything. I sure don't. A toast to the years to come!

Happy Anniversary, Epona! :D Yes, the good old Blue-Board days. Even though I didn't know you then (two different worlds; you were Baldur's Gate, I was Wizards & Warriors), our experiences were similar.

So many wonderful people from those days now gone...Turbovee, Charlie, Wah, Stealthy, Armisael. But plenty still remain, and that is a comfort.

Cheers,

You are a wonderful addition to this board, Epona, and even though we don't bump into each other all that often, you really are one of my favourite posters on Ironworks. Everything you write is well thought-out, rational and often extremely hard to dispute. I hope to see you around for many more years to come

Well said; you took the words right out of my mouth.

*Jerome, looking forward to Epona's next aniversary thread*

One year, huh?
That's really amazing! How do you go about to succeed with that? And still make meaningful posts, I might add ;)
Happy anniversary Epona!!
