who is stronger a cleric or a druid

uss 04-22-2002 08:16 AM

IMO, the cleric is much stronger. he levels up quicker(doesnt have the huge lvl jump from 13 to 14. youve gotta gain a damn 1,5 million exp then!) he can wear better armor, can wield the Crom Faeyr, has better spells. only advantage that the druids have is shapechange though so far, i think it sucks.

I agree

On the other hand a druid is much more poerfull if you have ToB installed,he has some excellent offensive and mage disabling spells,
and the high level abilities they gain are far better than that of a cleric.
In just SoA however the druid is not as good as a cleric.

hmm, what HLAs do they get?

They can summon incredibly tough elemental princes, as well as shapechanging into a 24 hit dice earth or fire elemental. They also get resistance bonuses to environmental damage, but I still reckon the cleric is superior.

p.s. damn tom how many of these are you intending to post today?

Everything that a cleric gets plus
Elemental Transformation
Greater Elemental summoning(awesome)
And at level 15 they have 6 7th level spell slots!!!!!!!

the druid gets MANY more spells at the same XP level as clerics. at 3M XP, druids get 6 spells of EACH level, while clerics get more low-levels and only a few high-levels. Druids have less of a good weapon selection, but can use scimitars, which may or may not be good. The Staff of the Woodlands is very powerful, and only druids can use it. Clerics can use the Crom Faeyr, but shouldn't your fighters be using it anyway?

Druids get Insect Plague and Creeping Doom, while Clerics get Restoration and some nice 7th level damage spells. clerics also get a larger spell selection for each level.

But it's still your choice.

Druids get to summon Fire Elementals VERY early on. Also Totemic Druids get to summon the very underrated Spirit Animals. They are immune to mind flayer mind attacks and are a lot tougher than skeletons for when those umber hulks come along.

Why choose? Have one of each. I concur with the fact that Clerics generally have a better spell arsenal, but I love Insect Plague and a few other spells SOOOO much. (The various Insect spells are especially potent if you can toss a Harm in there.) I know it's kind of silly, but I like having a Druid in my party as well, simply for the Insect spells. Besides, having a second Priest means you can cast twice as many Dooms in the same amount of time. Drawback: You have to wait until ToB to get them any truly nice weapons, and even then there are only two.
