I got an e-mail this morning from Avatar. It is about Hotmail closing down on November 15. Does anybody have any more info about this? I mean is it for one day? If not, does anybody know what that will do to the MSN Messenger log-ins? I do not have time to dig around and find out about this. Could someone very kindly please tell me if you know. And, Avatar, thanks for the heads up.

WHAT??? no I haven't heard anything about it...
some kind of joke

It must be some kind of hoax going around. If hotmail had any of intentions to close down, all members would have been notified and given fair warning to arrange email elsewhere. If you don't get it from Hotmail then it's surely not true ;)

Well, there's certainly nothing about it on Hotmail's main page, and they're still allowing new accounts to be created, so it's one of two things:

A) a hoax

B) shutting down temporarily for legitimate reasons (like upgrading their servers or routers). Sites frequently do this to improve their service. Usually that's only for a few hours, and certainly for no more than a day.

However, seeing no notice of this on the Hotmail site, I'm inclined to believe (A) is the most likely thing. You'd think people would have had better things to do with their time than that. *sigh*

Oh well...

I agree with the other people on this thread, Hotmail simply can't just decide to close down without giving its members proper notice.

Some people just try to do these things, it's the same with some chainletters. "If you do not forward this letter, you will be deleted from the hotmail account. This is to test if the account is still being used" .......yeah right!

Thanks, guys. This is why I asked about it. Not familiar with this kind of thing. I don't use my hotmail account for mail so I don't ever check it; just have it for my MSN log-on. I won't worry about it then.
