i am a mage and am well towards the end of the game. i've done everything there is to do before i enter suldanessellar and yet i havent been approached by that guy whos supposed to tell me to go back to the planar sphere immediately. anyone knows whats happening? i know its not important but since i've covered everything else.. i just want to be thorough.

I have a problem similiar to yours but a bit diferent, is that when the apprentices where making the the ultimate quest that i ask them they use to die, sometimes just one others two and so one, but if the principal doesn't he goes away and teos doesn't show up and the same happens when they all die.

I also have a problem not completely related. I was called back to the spere and when there teos asked me what it was all about. then some portals opened and i got ready for a fight, but no one came. Is this supposed to happen?

ok.. i have finished the apprentice tasks: i mean they are through with the 3 rounds of 'learning'. all survived, the graduation ceremony is done (i presided of course). all that happened eons back.. i left athkatla since and finished with the underdark, have found the lanthorn and am about to enter suldanessellar.. thats all thats left. but no one to summon me back to my sphere (life is tragic). and jaheira is moving on with the romance either.. bah.. i'm getting bugged.. isn't there a way to do these things right.. i thought i made sure everything went smooth.

Have you tried going back to the Planar Sphere? On your own accord?

What apprentice quests? Got a bad feeling I've missed some cool stuff?

It is related to the Mage Stronghold Quest. If you are not a mage/sorcerer, you will not get this quest.
