I have a lot of trouble killing vampires. Is there any way to protect your characters from level draining?
|
The priest spell negtive plane protection.

As for attack, try the priest spell surnay.
It will cook them very fast. |
The Limited Wish spell can also cast Negative Plane Protection on your entire party, though it still has the all-too-short duration time. The Amulet of Power also gives you permanant protection from level drain. Um... and doesn't one of the Paladin kits have it too?
p.s. congrats on your new rank, Luvian! -Luvian's not-so-secret-anymore admirer |
There are also some items in the game that grant negative plane protection. One you will get fairly early in the game from Aran Linvale. Until then as was mention, cast negative plane protection on your frontline fighters and keep the others back in sling/bow/spell range. Also cast summoning spells to keep the vamps busy. Undead skeleton warriors work very well for this as they are immune to level drain. .

Thanks Semis.

as for weapons the upgraded version of mace of disruption (+2) also confers Immunity to lvl drain on the wielder
|
you can also get a pendent of protection that protects against level drain.
|
Beware: Tough enemies are (usually) not stupid enemies. I notice that Vampires just LOVE to make a quick dash around my Undead Hunter and start neck-biting in my back rank. I HATE that!!!
Either leave the rest of the party behind (WAY behind--on the other side of a door is good) or summon up some cannon fodder to get in the Vampires' way. |
Easy! Don't fight them!
