I think you mean shadow door ...
Dimension door was a BGI spell, which enabled the mage to transport him to a location within the current line of view ( about one screen, IIRC).
It hasnt been implemented in BGII, because of scripting-problems ( you could warp behind a closed door For instance, though you shouldnt be able to go there yet).

Basically it tricks teh enemy into thinking you used "Dimension Door", while actually you just went "improved invisibility".

True sight can indeed dispel it ...
