- a herf="putlinkhere" puttexthere /a -
with the < and the >
The link won't show while it should?

I'm not sure, but I think it should be A HREF, not A HERF...that may be the problem.

like this: < A HREF="http://www.something.com" > text goes here < /a >

that should work, without the spaces near the angle brackets.
