Okay, maybe one more time. It's a piece of sh!te that crashes every hour and takes up a ton of hard drive space, but I wouldn't trade the System Restore option for anything. I had a problem with my ADSL (basically it just stopped working) and the helpdesk techo was walking me through uninstalling all my network protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet etc) when the line went dead, just after I'd uninstalled all this and was about to go about reinstalling. D'oh!!!! But after about ten minutes of panicking I remembered this feature (which, coincidentally, is using up 12% of my 20Gb HD) and used it to restore myself to the way my computer was last Monday. And all my recent emails, files etc are all still here! Yaaay!! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

OS is a troublesome question and all good and bad info is good to have. It´s after all a question to choose the least eveil, erhm, least buggy one! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif ------------------ http://wolfgir.najk.net/wolfie.gif Yawning lazywolf dreaming about nice little fairies...zzzzz Wolfgirs lair once-upon-a-paper |

Memsy,
You can get other applications that do the same thing as your 'system restore' that work with a decent OS! I use GoBack with my Win98. I've had to restore my hd any number of times and wouldn't be without some form of this program ever again! I *will* be moving to Windows XP though, despite the security issues with raw socket functionality, because it's more stable than Windows ME and I got a free upgrade coupon with my Dell.
This is the 3rd time I've had to use System Restore, by the way. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/noncgi/smiles/eek.gif ------------------ http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/memnoch/memnochsig.gif |

I'll just stick to my dual-boot Win2000/Win98 setup thank you very much http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
from what I've heard about WinME I probably wouldn't allow it's setup CD anywhere near my computer. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif |
