I was just wondering the amount of people on this board who have heard of or like new age bands such as Linkin Park, Incubus, Taproot, Crazytown and heavier stuff like Tool, Godsmack etc.
I know we have had the favourite music thread while ago but that didnt answer my question. I want to know how many people have heard the music whether they like it or not and their opinions on it. And this is not just for the young folks out there like me!!!!http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Okay as confusion has set in for many herehttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif I will try and explain myself. I should say these bands are what some say are rapcore and industrial but bands like linkin park and incubus and tool i think have their own class of music. These apart from Tool are bands that have only appeared in the last few years, Korn made a breakthrough in music and although I dont like their music they have made the way for other and more varied bands like the ones mentioned above to show their talents.
These mostly are bands that have appeared since about 1997

I'm 32. I'm classically trained as a cellist, and classicla/flamenco/spanish guitar.

I listen to everything from SRV to Bocceli to Metallica.

AND I LOVE LINKIN PARK!!!
http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/hihi.gif I also listen to Tool, Godsmack, & Incubus.

Good stuff....

I'm not sure what you mean by New Age music, AzureWolf... I was a big fan of Tangerine Dream back in the 80's and into the first part of the 90's. I would classify that as "New Age" music. Some of it, though, degenerates into little more than "cricket chirping", but some people like that, too. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Linkin Park is cool. Not really into any of the other new age stuff. HOnestly, more a country boy, myself.

I was mixed up by that, too Saz... (BTW, I have the Tangerine soundtrack of Legend. Remember that one?) But the groups he mentioned are the "new" heavy rock type stuff. VERY different from the "New Age" Stuff we know and love. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no.../ugone2far.gif

Don't really, listen to or have heard of, those bands.
But I'd like to think I listen to a wide range.
Anything goes, it's all about the mood.
Love the beatles and all the classic bands like Pink Floyd, and Zepplin, and such and such. You know who i'm talking about, all the ones that everyone loves or at least has listened to in the past. Listen to a lot of down tempo techno stuff. Like to listen to alot of classical music if the mood takes me. (which it does sometimes.) Some rap can be pretty groovy sometimes.
yeah, some Ramones and some old punk rock if i'm feeling it. ( too bad about Joey Ramone http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/crying.gif )
All depends on my mood...

I like most anything. Classical, country, rock and roll, grunge, heavy metal, bluegrass. heck you name it I'll listen to it! Drives my wife crazy cause I listen to everthing. Another thing I like to listen to is Bagpipes and Celtic.
I like to think of myself as eccalctic (can't spell it, but I can think it!).

My radio in the garage stays tuned to the "New Rock" station.
I like tool, Godsmack is a bit hard though and I can't stand KORN, although we eat it at dinner time very regularly and enjoy it..wait, that's Corn!
I like Staind, Green Day, lots of bands I don't even know the names of (LOL), Alice in Chains, and WAS a Stabbing Westawrd fan until they switched guitarists and went soft...kinda like Alice in Chains when they got out of rehab and whined through Jars of Flies. Not a good day for SW fans for sure when they debuted their new sound!

I grew up listening to rock & roll and have always had room to enjoy the new stuff without getting stuck in one groove and insisting on listening to just the oldies or what have you. Was never much on pop or rap though, except during those teen years when Soul Train was popular and disco was in. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

From the 60's to date, I like most of it as long as there is no unintelligible screaming going on and the music has a beat and sound that does not grate on my nerves.

I keep my car radio tuned to new rock or classical stations. It depends on my mood and traffic as to which is playing. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Moni, that's "Funk", and I STILL love it!! The Gap Band, Earth Wind & Fire, Parliament, The Commodores...you name it! I grew up on Soul Train, much to my mom's chagrin (I think she thought that "American Bandstand" was more appropriate for a southern "white boy" to listen to...as if! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/noncgi/smiles/485.gif )
