Who would it be and why??

Mine is Sauron for Bhall cuz he is better than Bhallypoo.

My second choice would be Gandalf for Edwin. Why? Doesn't Edwin turn into a girl?

i'd dump yoshimo for strider any day.hell, i'd dump yoshimo for any one of the characters from lord of the rings,including gollum.

Lets look at it:

Companions of the Ring:
Aragorn : Ranger
Boromir : Fighter
Gimli : Fighter
Legolas : Ranger (Archer)
Gandalf : Mage (Sorceror?)
Hobbits : Fighters or Thiefs, but who cares about those runts.

I'd take the first 5 as the rest of my party anytime.

Khazad..if u have read the books then u`ll know that Gollum IS the number 1 Char in LotR.. i mean he is SOOO cool. with all of his my whining n stuff..BUT he is a coldblooded killer ! And when he under goes his little change and becomes a good puppy for 2 mins and captures rabits and the like heh. I WOULD EXCHANGE GOLLUM FOR ANY NPC THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE GAME !

Gandalf for Edwin. I just hated Edwin through the entire BG series. Cocky mage *DIE!* I'd probably trade Strider in for Nalia or Anomen. Everyone else can stay.

Legolas for Anomen...anyone romance-able besides Anomen...heck, I detest Anomen so much I'd rather romance Gimli...or Golum...just NOT Anomen...

That's a tough one, since I like all of the NPC's.

However, Korgan would be traded for Sam or Frodo. (The hobbits aren't useless, in fact, alone by themselves, they were very useful.)

Gandolf for Elminster, and he needs to be recruitable ;)

Well, if you want to make it really easy, then I would take Gandalf over Haer' Daelis.
However, if you want to stick to similar skills and abilities...then my choices would be:

Replace Haer' Daelis with Aragorn.
Replace Mazzy with Legolas.
Replace Edwin with Gandalf (I hate him too, <font color="red">R</font><font color="cyan">B</font><font color="yellow">F</font>).
Replace Jan with either Pippen or Merry (halfling fighter/thieves...and pretty good ones at that).
