There actually is a non-cheating (yet cheesy) way to get rid of Melchor Harpell and keep Drizzt stuff for good. Just make your main char immune to Imprisonement (Spell Immunity Abjuration or Rage). Melchor will not attack further and stay at his current position forever. Now cast Freedom to get your party members back and leave with the loot from Drizzt and his friends.
You can even kill him in earlier SoA versions using the Nishruu bug (Nishruu eats up every magical item even with permanent effects) to remove Imoen's belt (Melchor wears it to be virtually invulnerable). To do so it helps to have your Nishruus/Hakeashars ready and attack him immediately at warping in, while casting time stop to kill him when he has lost the belt and before he casts imprisonement All this workarounds however hold a certain chance of trashing your dialogue options afterwards (i.e. all dialoges automatically finish instantly --> no buying, no quest talk, ...) |
Those items are not very good. I don't see why everyone want to get them. There are LOT of better items out there.

Well Luvian, novelty purposes maybe? ;)
Just imagine walking up to some Bard going off on some story how he saved Drizzt and got one of his Scimitars as a reward and then you flash out the REAL thing. Heh heh. :D |

I admit that Drizzt's stuff is not top of the line. But they are the best scimitars in the game (sadly Jaheira can't use them, as she leaves when you turn on Drizzt) and they are property of THE FAMOUS DRIZZT! Getting them is not about gameplay issues but about pride, glory and the urge to become the most infamous bhaalspawn of all.

i found those items pretty useful on my party, Drizzt's armor helps Viconia a hellluva lot and i gave Bruenor's (sp?) axe to korgan, he is a killing machine. and i gave Brun's armor to Mazzy she isn't complaining either, she also has Cattie Brie's bow, and thank god.. i was getting real tired of her runnin outta arrows...
and since im here, why doesnt Mazzy ever leave my party? evryone in it is evil but her and one time i just loaded up my game for fun and killed everyone in town and all the taverns and houses etc.. and she still didnt leave, im startin to think she is really a bad girl inside =) |
Maybe she is just too loyal...
But seriously, if you have TOB installed, then NPCs will never leave because of reputation problem, they changed it. You could have Korgan in a team with 20 rep and he would stay. |
