I was wondering if anyone has seen hacks for these? They were great games and I'm sure they would be again with a little modification. Maybe the engine doesn't allow for it? I really enjoyed the Wake of the Gods version of Heroes3 and Flamestrykes mod for Wizardry 8.

i've been playing the games for a long time and haven't seen any mods (other than patches) at all. flamestryke is still active and if it were possible to do, she'da done it by now. :(

altho, there is a M&M Tribute game in development. if you know the games and visited the original game's official forums in the past, you might recognize a lot of the people working on it.

Is it just that it's not possible with some games because of the way they're written? A couple of adjustments would make a big difference in those games.

i don't know enough about game-making to even hazard a guess, variol!
however, here is a nugget of info for you.... timbecile (one of the original game designers on 6, 7, and 8) has been asking on TELP's forums about the coding and formulae in some of the games. he's sworn to secrecy, so maybe another M&M game is in the works. Well, Dark Messiah of M&M is coming out.. although it's not exactly a standard M&M game. We can only hope...
As for hacking, it's a combination of the tools required and the source code availability. With both, it's easy. Without... :( |
