Hi all,
I was just wondering if there was currently anyone playing Dungeon Lords and if you were what your thoughts were on it compared to some of the other games. Thanks, CV |

DL was a perfectly adequate game. It has elements of CRPGs that are appealing to lots of us, but it was lacking a few things that kept it from being a stellar game. If you do get it, make sure you get the latest patches. It is much less entertaining without them. Also, make sure to play on the lowest monster generation setting. Trust me... the constant battles get to be very, very boring... It used to have a forum here, but it died off. If you post other questions in the Misc Games forum, I know that you'll get more responses. Sadly, DW Bradley didn't hit a home run with this one... I'm not even sure it counted as a bunt. But it did have fun for at least a while... just not the replay-ability that some of the classic games (BG, W&W, MM, and so on) show. If you can pick it up in a bargain bin, it's worth it. I certainly wouldn't pay full price (and sadly, I did, way back when). And I'm not trying to discourage you... just don't expect it to be the next great thing. It's the next adequate thing |
I'd second everything Bungleau just said. I got to the last dungeon, then started on something else and just never went back to finish DL. The lack of anything to do outside the main plot is what drove me away in the end. You can explore all over the world, but you'll find nothing of interest. It's too bad, because the game had potential. I enjoyed the combat system and the class structure.

I am, you know where to find me. :D

Well you know, all that time I saw the DL forum here, I looked and looked for the game, and it just finally came out for sale a couple months ago around here. Could it be they had multiple release dates?
By the way, I'm moving this to the misc. games section |
ya they made theuk release much later
the german version got voice acting throughout the whole game... what um the 7 or 8 npcs in the game have to say... It has been patched a lot since i polayued it and didnt finish it I know that. Still even with the improvements, which are indeed improvements dont get me wrong, this game is completely unfinished. It has a whole large world of nothing. I mean like pointless lakes and forests and what have you and nothing in them The dungeons are fun though with puzzles i really wanted to like this game but i have to be honest its bad overall Get vampire bloodlines over this game deffinitely what other games are you considering? I hate to say this, but reading these posts helps lift my bitter mood at not having been able to install DL! Really sorry to see such a flop from my all-time fav game designer, though. Maybe it was a proof of concept thing for him? But then, of course, he should have sold it for $9.99!

Thanks everyone for replying. It was just released here about a month ago and I think I will forgo buying it. I'm more of a Morrowind fan and this sounds like it doesn't come close.
