First, apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I was about to start playing the game last night and discovered, to my great disappointment, that my graphics card can't support it! It's ATI Rage 128. The game works but the characters are just white shapes with no textures. Not that much fun to play. What would people recommend for an upgrade (that won't cost me a ton)? Many thanks. |
A $79 used Xbox is a pretty cheap upgrade. ;)
And, while you apparently only presume (and do not *know*) it was your vid card, with an Xbox upgrade, you can be certain that your remedy will work. ;) [ 04-19-2005, 10:20 AM: Message edited by: Timber Loftis ] |
any of the GeforceFX series will work or the newer ATI cards, they all support DX9 (which is probably what is needed for KOTOR).

Aim for something in the $ 100 region and I think you'll be fine. Visis Tom's Hardware site to get some well-balanced advise.

i've just got a radeon 9200se - only paid 80 australian for it. runs fine at max res. kotor 2 not so well, but quite decent at lower res

If you can get yourself a Radeon 9700 pro somewhere, get that. It's a very decent card and probably reasonably priced.
Sorry for me being vague before, but I was doing two things at the same time. |
Thanks for all the advice.
@ Timber Loftis - good thinking outside the box. That kind of upgrade would open up all sorts of possibilities. ;) I did actually run a hardware compatibility check when KOTOR started and that's how I know the card (and the driver) is the blame. |
I used an ATI Radeon at first when I was playing Kotor, and it Worked out fine.
