But Derek 'Battlecruiser2K' Smart has bought the rights to the Freespace franchise (did so this summer) and is planning on making a Freespace 3. The fans seemed less-then-impressed. Opinions?

Well, I always wanted to play Freespace 3, as I really loved 1&2, but Derek? Meh... I'm opinionated about this... quite skeptical.

Oh balls. Freespace rocked. But Dereck Smart is a git.

I remember lurking on the forums for BC2K once. Nightmare. Didn't accept that anybody else had a valid viewpoint. People had serious suggestions for gameplay (Like - make the jetpack use newtonian physics and it'll actualy be usable if the ship isnt at a dead stop and you wont run out of fuel before you get anywhere) yet were ignored and insulted.

Of course, I havent played the full version of BC2K, so maybe he did make something out of it and maybe he can make a decent Freespace. I doubt both though.
