I've only had KOTOR for two days, and I think it already qualifies as one of the most addictive games I've ever played. The only problem lies with the NPC's.. they're too cool. ;) Since I grow rather tired of switching every five minutes, I think I'll just pick two characters with whom I'll stick for the rest of the game. I'm currently at the point where you start your Jedi training (just after Tarsis), so I have acces to about 6 NPC's. Canderous, Mission, Z., Carth, Bastila and some nameless driod. Since I'm not a part of the Wookie fanclub (they probably smell ;) ) and since I like banter (rules out the driod as well) I'm left with four possible choices. My main character is a soldier (soon to be a Guardian Jedi, I guess), so Mission makes the most logical addition to the crew with her thieving skills. Unfortunately, she isn't much use in combat. Both Carth and Canderous makes pretty descent warriors, although they're both second to Bastila (for now). I think Bastila may also be important story-wise (although she does tend to get on my nerves), so I think I'll keep her around. I'm still open to pretty much everything though. So some none-spoilerish suggestions would be nice

That's exactly what I currently have - a Jedi Guardian with Mission and Bastila. Mission for the thieving and Bastila for the plot. Canderous is evil so I didn't take him, the droid and the wookie are annoying, and there just wasn't enough room for Carth (Who I really like).

Well, this combination works well and I recommend it.

You'll pick up some interesting NPC's pretty soon, and maybe some of them are worthy of replacing Mission or Bastila.

My good team is always Bastilla and Carth. My evil one is Canderous and the Red Droid (he has some funny banter, and an interesting backstory.)

HK-47 is the coolest droid EVER

Oh absolutely. When you get hk-47, you have to have him until you hear all of his stuff.

He is the best one. Talk to all of the NPCs on the ship.

The wookie and the r2d2 droid are boring though thats true.

I liked mission bastilla and hk-47 the most.

Thanks guys. Now, another question. In order to enjoy this great game even more, I came up with a cunning plan (sorry, I just have to quote Blackadder as often as possible). I'm going to quit halfway through the game, and restart with another character. I'm thinking of a Scout/Guardian this time, with the dueling feat rather then two weapon combat (single lightsaber is the way to go). My question: what is halfway? I'm currently at the first planet after Dantoine (where I got the Jedi training), so I'm guessing this is about half. Am I close? No spoilers please.

I forgot to mention that Carth and Bastilla are the two romanceable characters.

Don't quit in the middle, that's an horrible idea, considering that the game offer two great experience. Play once as a good jedi, then again with a dark side jedi.

I don't know what would be considered halfway. Maybe after you've done two planet or so?

Yes, I figured as much about the romances. Bastila is a tough one to crack though. At least in BG, it was always obvious how characters felt about you. While in KOTOR, you often have to pick extreme replies to get her to confess she likes you. Also, on the topic of playing a light/dark Jedi. Not quite sure if that is always the smart thing do. Are there actually two seperate storylines? Or do you get a Jedi:Academy like experience where both are pretty much the same.

You go to the same places, but how you solve your problems and the efect it has on the galaxy is really different, and toward the end you get to pick your side. The evil ending is way better, btw.

Just keep playing your good game and you'll see some of the things you can do as an evil guy.
