Its been awhile since I played I can't remember is there a time limit on you to get the GECK??

The Hierophant 07-15-2004 06:05 PM

Ten years of game time as far as I recall. Which is so long that it doesn't really count as a time limit anyway.

I don't remember the time limit to get GECK, but it is probably about 4-6 months to retrieve the GECK and rush back to Arroyo. After that, you will have 13 years to play the game. According to one of the FAQ, the game "officially" ends at Jul 25 2254.

Not after. In total, there is a maximum of 13 years of gameplay. You can literally walk from grid to grid if you so wish. You would have to intentionally do nothing but walk aimlessly or sleep for years to reach the deadline.

Here is a good walkthrough for Fallout2. It is very comprehensive and informative.

Just to remind that having too many items or having too many logs in the Pip Boy will cause the infamous "blackout Skill Button" bug. To avoid this, please DO NOT:

1. Download Sierra Army Depot and Military Base logs into Pip Boy.

2. Hoarding too many items in your car trunks. If you really want to keep souvenirs of your "victories", you need to keep them in other isolated places like Toxic cave and military base, far away from the shopkeepers. This is because I noticed that shopkeepers do not "recycle" the stuff you sell them, which means after a while, they themselves start to accumulate lots of stuff in their inventory. This is quite true for high profile shopkeepers such as the ones in NCR Bazaar and San Francisco Chinatown.

If you want to keep playing after finishing the game, do not read the hint book by the drunken priest in New Reno or it will make your character too powerful and spoil the challenge.

You know I had the game since it first came out (1998 and I was well 10 ) and I have played it many times yet never beaten it.

Mainly because I had a computer problem or just got bored . I am going to try it again and finnaly beat it this time. ( Around the 6th time I declared this )

Heh... I play Fallout 2 about twice a year on average. This time round, I'm playing a character that uses only melee weapons and throwing weapons; which means no Slayer or Sniper perk for me. ;) Fun to poke people in the eye with a Yakuza knife and make them fall screaming to the ground though. Throwing a spear into their eyes is surprisingly hilarious too.

My current main battle tactic is to knock them unconsicious with a blow to the head and then poke them to death.

Playing with a party with the following current/endgame stats.

ST: 5 -> 10
PE: 6 -> 8
EN: 6 -> 6
CH: 5 -> 7(8 with sunglasses)
IN: 9 -> 10
AG: 9 -> 10
LK: 9 -> 10

Can't wait to get the Ripper and Plasma Grenades.

I wonder if you have any special tactics going against Horrigan. That mean SOB has tons of hit points and fighting HtH with him could be nasty... unless you have the mutated toe. ;)
