Basicly I'm asking if you had a say in the developement of Soa's spells, what kind of spell would you make?

Heres one of mine

Magical Sphere
This is an orb of pure magical energy. Upon casting the sphere floats uneiringly tword its target. This is a simple spell, though it depends upon the skill of its caster, a weak caster, a weak sphere, a strong caster, a strong sphere.
Damage- 1d6 per level of the caster (up to 8d6 damage maximum)
Range- 150 ft.
Duration- Instant
Level- 2

This is actually a spell from Age of Wonders, but I kinda like the spell and the way it works.

Call Flames

Manipulating the energies that exist everywhere, a Mage can successfully cause flames to erupt around a target.

1d4 per spell caster level

Range: Visual sight

Duration: Instant

Name: Amergin's Fate
Description: Alters the destiny of a creature ex post facto; in game terms, allows a reroll of any one roll whether the caster (i.e. reroll a failed learn spell roll), a comrade (reroll a failed save), or an enemy (reroll a successful hit), etc. May only be cast once per day and there's a non-cumulative 5% chance that the gods notice you infringing upon their territory and remove 1 point each from INT, WIS, and CHA.

Duration: instantaneous

Well:

Wind Blast
When cast windblast sends a powerful concentrated gust of wind in the direction of the target, blowing them back a great distance and doing damage on the akward landing of the target.
Effects: Blows target back, distance is measured by level of caster.
Damage: 1d4+2 for every level of the caster
Level: 3

I miss the old Cleric Spell "Sticks to Snakes". Much fun against Mages since they usually carry darts and quarterstaffs.
Level 4
Duration 2 rounds/level
Range 30 feet
Area 1 cubic foot
Casting time 7
No save

The cleric can change 1 stick into a snake per level. There is a 5% chance per level that the snake will be poisonous. The snakes are under the command of the caster. Only non-enchanted items can be changed.

How 'bout -

Gravity Well
Upon casting, a black orb 1 foot in diameter forms in the casters hands and floats to the target. Everyone (including the caster and his/her party) within 25 feet of the orb is "sucked" towards it at a rate of 10 foot per round. When they come in contact with the sphere they start to take 1d6 damage each round until the spell runs out or is dispelled.
Type: Conjuration (I think?)
Duration: 2 turns
Level: 8
Save: spells at -4 (once each round)

Also a "vampires revenge" type spell would be quite cool - Once cast, all damage done to the caster is instead "received" by his attacker. Have to be level 9 and it may unbalance the game too much... dunno? ;)

Lich Change:
This spell casts when the character dies. it changes the character in every aspect into a lich. this powerful spell has its ups and downs I.e being dead (downer) and being a lich (upper).
Damage: N/A
Type: Unsure?
Range: N/A
Duration: perminant
Level: 9
Useability: only usable by mages/sorcerer's

the idea is it perminantly changes your character kit look and spell casting abilities

Heres another...

Call Golem
Upon casting the caster uses his magical energies to form a golem. The skill on the caster varies the type of golem:
lvl 1-5: lesser clay golem
lvl 6-8: stone golem
lvl 9-12: clay golem
lvl 13-16: iron golem
lvl 17 on: adamnite golem
There is a 20% chance that 2 golems will be summoned. These golems stay and protect the caster untill they are slain, otherwise they will serve him all their lives.
Damage: none
Type: Conjuration/Summoning
Range: Sight of Caster
Duration: permanent, until slain.

Here is one of my favorites from ADD (SECOND EDITION)
Flesh to Air(reversible)
Lvl 5
Schools:Necromancy,Alteration
Range:10 yards(IIRC)
Duration:Instantaneous
Save:Neg
Upon completing this spell the caster ponts at the creature who must save vs death or be evaporated.Equipment and clothing are not affected.Note that the spell IS reversible.I needn't elaborate on the uses of it at the hands of an evil and clever mage...
