Has anyone else played Raptor: call of the shadows or Capitalism? I have shareware demos of them on a 10-year-old 101 game demos CD, and I think they're really good games.

I played Call of the shadows years ago. Oevrall, not a bad game, but I enjoy Tyrian / Tyrian 2000 more because I can control the ship using mouse and the graphics are more scrisp and colorful.

I've also got a demo of Tyrian, and it was good, but I liked raptor more. I don't really know why. Maybe because the graphics look very realistic for the time, but tyrian definitely has more and better colors. On Tyrian, what combination of weapons do you use? I usually have the pulse cannon (starting gun) sonic wave, and mini missiles. The demo only has the first episode of the game, so I've been looking for it on ebay. I found Raptor and Capitalism, but not tyrian.

Rapor doesn't have to use the mouse? It's the only way I can run it on my computer.

I have the full version, so my fighter is equipped with Zica Laser and Zica Laser Charger (sidekick). :D

You might want to try some abandonware site, some of those carry the full version. ;)

What's an abandonware site?

Sites that offer old DOS games for downloading. Most of them are free (no need to pay for downloading), but getting those old DOS games to run on XP is a little bit tricky.

A good example of Abandonware site: http://www.the-underdogs.org/ (only download one game at a time or you will be banned.)

A good program (freeware) to run old DOS game in XP: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1

I am currently playing Darklands and Bad Blood. Those are the games I used to play on my 286 and 386 SX years ago.

Thanks. The computer I want to run it on has 98 instead of xp, so that's not a problem.

Paladin2000 04-16-2004 05:35 PM

My PC is running on 98SE/XP Pro dual boot but I only boot 98SE for games that simply won't run with DOSBox, for example Tyrian 2K. ;)

Nice, I was looking for some old games to play. Luckily I'm still using win98se. :D

Sorry about bringing up an old topic, but I couldn't transfer the sound file to my 98 computer, and the computer I downloaded it on runs it at half speed. I haven't used that sourceforge before. I clicked on the highest "windows" one, and it asked me what mirror I wanted to use. I have no idea what I am doing, so I decided to ask what to do here.
