So I ask you. If you had access to on-line hacks for games. Like the famous warcraft III maphack would you use it or not, not every one nows where to look for such thing. But I found a site that has loads of hacks for many different on-line games. So would you be tempted to use the hack or not. I thought about it and decided not to use it. But I am sure people out there would have used it. They may think why not every one else uses it so why not make it fair.

I'm anti-hacking. It takes out the fun in the game. You tend to overpower yourself in a way that kills the fun for others and obliterates any reasonable challenge for yourself. Using certain, experience enhancing mods is no problem, as long as balance remains. A hack from your question sounds like a way to tip the scales decisively in your own favor. I am against that.

I don't mind cheating, as long as the person has finish the game before, or the person encountered some kind of bugs, or the game is ultra difficult ( yes there are some games like this ).

However, if the person use cheats to make himself ultra powerful so that he can bully other people/monsters or pk other people or take advantage in gaming flaws that benefit himself greatly. then I'm strongly against such things.

I agree with you on the cheating after the you finish a game like in BG II after I finished it went back and then just did fun things. Like make a charcter with uber equipment but could never use anything else he found.

But in the on-line world I think all hackers should die. It makes it no fun for others to play. When you play war craft against a guy that knows your every move it takes the fun out of it.

What's the point of cheating? It gives you no satisfaction whatsoever.

For example:

You're up to this really difficult boss, in lets say, an RPG. You've attempted to beat the boss a couple of times, but you find it too hard. Do you:

a) Try a little a bit harder the next time and think of new strategies to defeat the boss. You then give it your all and finally beat the boss, knowing that you did it on your own.

or

b) Look up walkthrough's, cheats and guides on the net and beat the boss with ease knowing that you cheated and took the easy way.

IMO, the former option is just so much satisfying.

If you've already beaten the game, using cheats and walkthrough's can be fun as you find stuff which you may of not discovered the first time around.

I played the wizardry 8 demo for a LONG time, trying out all types of parties by editing the savegame.

For me editing a game is fun, just for finding out what to change in file to get results in the game. :D

For me it is simple : I do not cheat !

When I've finished a game for the first time I search the web for additional informations about this game ( that's how I learned about the retro dungeons in W8 ) and sometimes I read a walktru.

But even then I do not use programms to change starting skills or anything else in a game.

talking about online cheating. Have anyone of u ever played C&C generals? Cos my mates older bro is ranked very high up in the world and once he played the top rank in the world, kicked his ass and was about to win and then the guy Alt+F4 out of the game. That means that my mates bro didnt win the game and didnt move up the ranks! I consider that cheating, it basically shows that the person cant hack loosing!

In single player games, cheat all you wants. After all, you bought the game and it is up to you to play it which ever way you see fit. It might also help you to pass some seemingly impossible odds/AI.

Multiplayer wise, it is a very irresposible act because you are hurting other people and hindering their progress. Not to mention that it is very unfair to the other player whom played fairly and invested countless hours and effort to earnt their status.

IMO, if you can't play fairly online and accept defeat when goes against stronger foes, you might was well not play at all.

BUT... if the other party is a cheater, you might give him the old "an eye for an eye" treatment. :D
