Brian Fargo returns, with a new company called InXile (interesting name!), and plans for redoing the classic Bard's Tale. Click this link to the press release on Blues News for details:

(and the 666 is probably just coincidental! ;) )

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!

That link goes to an informational page about the game, and if you mouse over the different characters in the main image, they talk to you. Keep mousing over, and they say something different. And sometimes, they get even!

The serving wench and the knight on the left took me to new and unexpected places! If the game is built with this kind of humor and fun in it, it will be a tremendous success, I think -- this would be a blast!

Sadly, I now have to wait until late 2004 to partake, according to the schedule...

That sounds interesting. I've played them all on the C64 (hell, that reminds me how old I am ) and I wonder how a game like Bard's Tale, Wasteland or Dragonwars could be styled ( and sold ) in our Pentium4-time.

Fantastic link, Nightowl, thanks! LOL :D

I'm utterly excited about this one...have been waiting for so long for any news about a new Bard's Tale, even if its not quite what the petitions for IV were wanting!

I also played the entire trilogy on the old commodore 64 (which I still own and treasure dearly!) playing Bard's Tale III in particular irrevocably altered my life and obsession with RPG's in general. To finally finish that game was one of the most fulfilling in all my gaming life! :D Ahh, the many moons!

Good ol' Mr Fargo, I knew you'd pull through after EA's complacency for so long, although I will remain skeptical that it could possibly meet up to the standards that nostalgia has now embellished! But here's to hoping that the long wait shall be worth it eh? :D

Cheers,
Cerebrodragon

Bards Tale was the first Computer RPG I played. I also played Bards 3 and also messed with the construction set - but I liked Bards 1 the best. It will be interesting to see how it comes out.

Now if someone would just redo "Darklands".

I never played Bard's Tale, but the puns you get when you move the cursor over those personalities are just hilarious! Maybe I should consider playing it after all :D

Did you sit the cursor over the barmaid's chest? If you move it over her a few times, it takes you to a sexual harrassment site. :D
