The game is good enough. The graphics are great and the gameplay is more of the same, which can be a plus. The big downsides are the lack of oversight. You don't even need to reach the last level to feel completely helpless. Engaging the enemy on two different locations AND making sure your war-machine keeps running and your base isn't blown to smithereens in the meantime, is quite micro-intensive. With Starcraft its much easier to do.
Also, like I said the graphics are great, but that leads to one HUGE disadvantage: there is no one great viewpoint in which you can execute total control of your game. There are always some buildings, trees or mountains which partially obscure your line of sight. I ver much dislike the fact that the viewpoint is so crappy.
And strategy.... now you can build like 4 types of tanks, which are good/bad against certain types of units.... WOOOOOW!!! Mega strategy! It just means that now you need 3 of everything to be a notable strike-force and having so many large units makes it impossible to execute a refined strategy: they all just drive around, shooting randomly at things while 80% of your strike-force are bumbing into each other on the other side of the river/mountain!! And as always, the big-mega tanks are ultimate: having several of these wins every game, but they are soooo slow that playing with them really tests your patience.
But overall, it's a nice game :D
