the problem is that everytime a video sequence shows up the game stutters and the video is very choppy. is there a patch for this,
I know the problem isn't my cdrom, as it's a dvd player, and replaced it recently (the old one had the same issues), I got the game used as a gift and it had a few scratches, I attributed the stutter to this, but when I recently got the broodwar expansion new the problem was present in the broodwar videos as well. |
Could it be your video card. Maybe you have to download some new drivers because I had a similar problem with another game where whenever an FMV sequence came on the game froze. I downloaded new drivers and it fixed it right up.

I'm not sure, I got all new drivers when i installed diablo 2, and that works fine, and even before I started running win2k (win 98 before) I had the stutter problem.

i seem to have the same problem! except my CD player is a True-X drive (i think)
it supposedly reads all of the lines at once instead of moving the laser around. I think the main problem with it is that it tries to use power saving too often, shutting itself off for a minute whilst it could have been accessing the info full time and avoiding the time between for speeding back up again. i duno how to fix it unfortunatly( yours do that too maybe? |
*nods* I'm pretty sure that could be the problem, but I don't know how to fiddle with the read ahead options in win2k, so i can't test it...

Isn't there a way to copy the movie files to the HD? A larger install?
|
When it happens to me (and it happens to my Starcraft), I let the movie play once. It stutters, but when I play it the second time, it plays as it should. I guess it is copied to HD.
