I recently started playing Bard's Tale again.
It's a little bit of an adjustment getting used to the speed of the game on a P4, but it's still fun. I finished exploring the wine cellar, sewers, and today I finished the catacombs. I've even made a few trips to Harkyn's castle to visit the berserkers. Thanks to a fire horn, mind blade spells (MIBL), and restoration (REST), they are a great source of XP. I have one mage on his last leg of becoming an archmage (finished Magican, Conjurer and Sorcerer, working on Wizard), and two more almost done with Wizard and ready to switch to their final class (Conj and Sorc). By the time I finish exploring Harkyn's Castle, I plan on having three full-fledged archmages. Providing the muscle for my group are a monk, paladin and bard. If you get nostalgic for the good ole days, give Bard's Tale another go. I found that I could run it without fiddling with my windows memory settings (unlike most older games, you don't need EMS or XMS, it's THAT old). Don't forget to do a search for some Bard's Tale websites, unless you remember all the four letter spell codes... If any of you have tried buying the collection cds of old adnd games from way back, you probably ran into the same problem I found--combat messages flashed by so fast, even on the slowest speed setting, that it was impossible to see what was going on! Bard's Tale has no such problems, must be the real-time aspect of the game tied the scroll speed to real seconds, not processor speed. [ 02-22-2003, 04:31 AM: Message edited by: Olorin ] |
wow man, it's like for years already since I last played this game.
you'll probably need to download moslow program so that it will slow the processor speed. |
