I've been playing for a while now up to level 6 but having a hard time in any new section, any quest areas I go to I don't last long! Is this normal??Any place I should try first? Thanks

What is your party?
|
knight, thief.clericand a sorceror.I'm just getting to the barrows having a time there..How do you use your skills?? Like thief skill ..stealing???Thanks
|
go level up somewhere first like Erathia. Barrows got some tough undead. or, walk slowly, immediately go turn based and pump those monsters full of arrows.
stealing? go to weapon/armour shop, press shift + right click ( try ctrl + right click if it doesn't work )on the item you wanna steal. Warning : stolen item cannot be resold. |
On Emerald Isle you should have killed the dragon, then you would have all the money and armour you need.... save and loot, if corpse remains save and loot, if it doesn't, go back to first save repeatedly until it does.
However, even without this superstart, which makes the game fairly easy, you might follow a simple stategy of travelling aroung ALL the towns picking up horseshoes/ore/chests/wells/altars/challenges on the run, fighting only the wimps, and buying a few superior bows in Avlee. All your armour improvement needs should be taken care of by the chests and ore which you pick up and take to Erathia. You can also pick up and complete a few quests which are simple, safe and rewarding while you are on this "run-around". I would finance this trip from the goblins in and around Harmondale, from The White Cliff Caves where you get a pack of cards and from Arcomage in all the towns to which you travel. At the end of this trip and after becoming expert in Leather and Body Magic and Air Magic (Wizards Eye) and Bow where possible, you will then be strong enough for the Barrows which supply further loads of loot. There are a group of thieves in the south eat of Erathia who are easy to take if you keep retreating in front of them and using your bows. And just off the eastern most path in the northern half of the map there is a cave where you can find a ring to complete a quest...(The merchant from the inn in Harmondale) Buy "Fly" and "Invisibility" scrolls on your travels and you can make loads of money/ore in Deyja and on the plateau about Tatalia. In Deyja there is a "very nearly infinite experience" bug. Let me know if you have not already learned about this and would like to try it. There is also lots of ore in The Bracada Desert and at least one Fly scroll in a chest roughly southwest of the stable. With the ore you pick up you can, with saves and patience, supply many of your equipment needs. I hope this is useful for you John. If it is or you want further clarification of anything here, just say so. Dandad |
Dandad,Thanks for the post,But I didn't kill the dragon! He was way to tough for me at the time is there any way to get back? I've got my knight in chain so I guess mastering leather is out for now,I'm still having a hard time trying to figure out how to use my skills as this game didn't have a manual! Unless it's hidden on the disk somewheres? I'll try the shift thingy next This game seems larger than I thought, well worth the price!Grafics are a little dated but thats not why I play these games,I love the rpg games , building up stats and such, well back to the game and thanks again for the post I'll try some of your tips...John

nope, there's no way back into emerald island now.
your knight can grandmaster plate armour skill, thus it will be a waste to give him chain armour skill. only give 1 character 1 type of armour skill only. I believe there's a little booklet in your cd casing that explain which skill you can grandmaster and so on. |
John, I have substantial manual, (63 pages) Ask anything and I will try to answer.
Killing the Dragon on Emerald Isle is something you have to plan for and would usually only be done second time around. Certainly not until you are fully aware of all the spells, NPCs etc. Ctrl-click on the item etc you want to steal. The chance of success is based on character's skill level. Doubled at expert level. Tripled at Master. Quad at Grand Master. I think thieves can become Grand Master at Disarm Trap. A search will find plenty of sites about the game. Killing the Dragon is pure ya-ya. If you want to save and reload 1000 times, go for it, but I have better things to do. Also, the Barrow Downs is not a nice place for inexperienced parties. You're better off going to Erathia and beating up the raiders outside town.

Thanx Holywarrior,I'm fighten the raiders now!!.....As George Bush is to foreign policy!!!
