The best? Um, I'm not sure, but it is ONE of the best most definitely. In fact, I think it has one of the best storylines in a game.

I loved fft but i don't think it was the best rpg on ps1 (definetely the best tactical rpg) ff7 was definetely better in my opion and was one of the best console rpgs ever. I don't know enough about rpgs other than ff to rank them definetively on the ps1

There's only one huge problem with FFT. The damn thing isn't going to come to Australia so we're missing out on all the hype. Makes me wonder what on earth they're thinking when they ship in some real flops and leave out an FF game thinking there won't be a market for it. I don't know what anyone could say on this but to me there's just no excuse for it!

FFT is not really an RPG but more of a strategy/RPG. It's tied as the best game for ps1 with Chrono Cross IMO. FFT has an incredibly flexible character advancement system, a near infinite number of character and ability combinations, an almost infinite number of strategies to use, a wide array of equipment and one of the best storylines in any game ever. However, the storyline can be kind of hard to follow because it can at times take some time to advance the story and by then you've forgotten what happened 2 or 3 steps back which causes you to forget that important piece (most are important). The storyline is also very involved with treachery, backstabbing, and political manuevering going on constantly which in and of itself is very complicated so with the sometimes slow advancement it's easy to get confused. I have finally figured it out though... I think ;) . But that is the only downfall. If you can keep track the story, it's an amazing game, if you can't it's still awesome. I've played through it 5 times I think, something close to that anyways.

As a side note, I believe Square is working on a FFT2 finally. Possibly one of the most anticipated sequels of all time... by me at least

Ooh, Final Fantasy Tactics 2 is definitely much anticipated and eagerly awaited by me as well, even though it probably won't have my favorite characters back (as happens in FFs). That's okay; more favorite characters shall be found!
