I just started to play Torment, so I'd like to know if there anything I should know before I go joining factions. Does joining one exlude other, and so on...

You can join only one fraction. I recommend joining the Godsmen and bluffing your way into the sensate's by claiming you are a long lost member;)
Joinable fractions: Godsmen: Anyone can become a god (nice quests and items) Sensate's: Experience as much of the planes as possible (Acces to private sensoriums, needed for completion of the game) Dustman: Achieving 'true death' Anarchists: Choas Non-joinable fractions: Harmonium: Law enforcement (For 99% totally corrupt bastards) Mercykillers: Freelance bountyhunters (fight for justice outside the law) [ 07-06-2002, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: Dreamer128 ] |
So, I take that once you have joined, you're stuck with that faction - that you can't resign and join another group?
I've only met the Dustmen yet and done the iniation quests for the experience points. Haven't yet joined. ps. What's this second special ability - 'Talk of bones' or somesuch - I got. Kinda missed the explanation on that one. |
'Talk with bones' gives you the ability to talk to the undead, even those who would normally not talk to you. Being a dustman will also make undead less willing to attack you. The Godsmen are probably the best guild to join, they have the best items and quests. Also inside the Godsmen building you can get a quest (the dream machine) which is reveals more about your characters destiny. I really do not recommend Anarchists unless your the hardcore chaotic type.

OK. I read a little walktroughs I have. It seems to me you can renounce your old faction and join a new one. Right? I suppose returning back isn't possible...
I was thinking to join the Dustmen - and do quests for them if they have any - until I meet the Godsmen. Another ps. I take you should store you stuff in containers like in Baldur's Gate games if you don't want them disappear? |
I don't think so. But better safe than sorry I guess.

Yes, you can join the Dustmen, then renounce them and join the Godsmen. There is a way to get into the Sensates without renouncing the Godsmen, so you can be in both of them at once. There's another sect you may be able to join, but I never pursued that. It's more the evil route.

The Anarchists. Definately not a good choice.
