Ok I get my butt kicked every time I face the Shadow Dragon.

I have a party of six and bang away at him but never get him past barley injured.

Advice????? Techniques?

Just got thru it today! You're talking about the one in the temple ruins, right? I died many times too. But in the end, I prevailed! I'll assume you want to kill the dragon in a non-cheesy way

The key for me was the mages. I had two, though it's nicer with three (I had three the first time thru the game). The main damage I inflicted was from casting Magic Missile at it. But it's not very effective until you cast a Lower Resistance or two. Casting MM through a sequencer is pretty effective too. After running out of Magic Missiles, I went with fireballs.

My tanks and summoned creatures were used as diversions. Haste em up and have em hit & run. If the dragon hits you, run away and send another guy in to whack at it. The dragon is pretty immune to your attacks, so don't expect to make much damage. But the main goal for these guys is just to keep the mages alive and casting. You just need to buy a few rounds before the mages finish it up, maybe 10-15 rounds. Actually, that's a lot of rounds!

Hope this helps. Good luck!

if you wanna be cheesy or just want the scales and the scroll:

pickpocket him! (you HAVE the wardstone, right?)
cloudkill him: move out of sight and use a wand of cloudkill (3-4 charges) to get his health down. Move in with a tank before he starts to heal and just run around to divert him until he's dead.

if you wanna be tough:

use every defensive spell you have on your party and haste them. I'm mainly referring to cleric spells like Bless, Chant, Protection from Evil, Defensive Harmony, ...
Use Breach, Spell Thrust, Pierce Magic or Dispel Magic to get rid of the Stoneskins and wapon protections. Charge with your tanks and use lower resistance with your mages. Followed by Magic Missiles, Flame Arrows (high acid resistance), Chromatic Orbs, ...
You could also try Polymorph other or Finger of Death and hope for a lucky kill.

Glorfindel
I’ve got my character Mage/Fighter Level 10
Viconia Dvir Level 9
Valygar Level 8
Keldorn Level 8
Minic Level 9
Nalia de’ Arnise. Level 10

I’m starting to think I’m not strong enough.
Decent equipment but not good enough.

I was referring to the dragon in the Umar Hills. The Shade Lord Dungeon.

I’ve got the wand of cloudkill and summoning but all summoning spells are useless because he cast death as soon as they hit the ground.

I Use arrows of piercing and a couple of dispelling then regular arrows not to much affect on him.

Thanks: daan I’ve booked marked that site now and will do the search for Dundee Slaytern.in a little bit.

Thanks faceman and Discopalace too.

Just use enough cloudkill and as many area affect spells you can do and he will be dead in moments

For me the "Wand of lighting"(i had 3-5 of them)worked in combination with "Lower Resistance". Hide your party in the niche after the columns in the top right and "Haste" the Mage. Cast "Lower Res." and start using the wand. Also you can place some (7) tarps around the dragon. You haven't good thiev so use Nalia and sleep, place trap and sleep, so on...until 7 traps are set. I don't know whether it is "cheese" but definately the traps are powerfull weapon.
