Basically, the standard ground textures for a lot of types of ground seem to have been corrupted and replaced by some sort of weirdly-coloured map of the Imperial city, repeated a thousand times to cover all of the ground, even the sandy underwater stuff.

I figure it can probably be solved easily if someone is willing to throw uncorrupted versions of the textures my way, but otherwise I suppose I'll just have to reinstall everything.

Wow. Been a while since this forum seen a little.

Just looked through my Oblivion folder and can't find anything resembling ground textures. Do you know the names of the specific files you want?

PurpleXVI 03-25-2007 05:20 PM

Well, I found the file, and it's 1.13 gb large(There's just one massive archive for all of the textures.). I guess I have to reinstall, balls.

But thanks for looking.

My first guess would be that you have a mod/patch compatability problem.

Did you install the v1.2 patch that came out on Friday?
Are you running a mod designed for the v1.1 of the game after installing the patch?

Oh, yes, thanks for reminding me of that, now I know what the problem is. It's the v1.2 that screwed up my game, I tried to install it, it whined about not being able to, but aborted(Supposedly well before screwing with any files.), but I guess it wrecked some of my textures anyway.

Thanks.

They released a patch on friday?..

Yes. I think it was Friday anyway. Might have been Thursday or Saturday.

I finally got a new computer, mostly so I could play Oblivion and [maybe] some of the other new games.

So I'm at the beginning of the whole thing. Character creation was kind of fun, but I created this guy with the intention of starting over after I had a better understanding of how things worked. Now I kinda like him, may just keep going.

I did the same thing with Daggerfall: Got so hooked on the game, ended up playing forever [despite how crashy that sucker was] without ever actually solving the main quests.

I have no idea what version I have, not GOTY, though: any important updates in that one? Any major issues I need to be aware of, as far as broken quests or things to generally avoid while I get my bearings?

Hey Oruboris.

There are a few patches to get. There's also a gigantic mod community. Once you take a tour of the Empire, slay a few demons maybe, give it a look. I posted a message that got little attention in this forum (as this is a very un-social and not altogether difficult game puzzle-solving or class-building-wise). It details some of the things that were true then, and from what I've seen, true now.

The base game is solid in terms of bugs, but shallow in my opinion. I modded it into a much better, harder RPG.

Pathfinding can be horrible at times, but apart from that there are not too many major bugs that I know of (playing through for the second time)

What sort of character are you playing? I found that spell casters are a pain in the ass in that game :(
