Does anyone know what the relationship between resist normal weapons and armour class is, if any? I've just got a bunch of orcish armour that's better than my current stuff by two points, but I have 7% resist normal weapons on my current stuff. How do you translate AC into the resistance? And what constitutes a normal weapon?
How does the whole AC thing work in general? Does it have any effect on magic at all? Oh yeah, bit of a turn around... Can any one tell me who's completed the main quest, will it stop oblivion gates from opening all over the place? Because that'd be bad... |
I've finished the mainquest, but i haven't played much since. the only thing left to do for me is the Fighters guild quests, and i've only done a few. I haven't seen any Oblivion gates anymore since the mainquest ended, so i guess that's a closed book. It wouldn't make make sense if those gates would still be popping up all over the place.

After you finish the mainquest, all oblivion gates that you have discovered or have not discovered will be destroyed.
You will know why the oblivion gates will not appear anymore if you read/look properly the ending movie. |
I have another question about armour. For some reason my spellsword has Heavy Armour as a major skill, so I've been using Orcish armour and am now Journeyman at it, getting towards Expert (I get hit a lot). I've just found a set of light Glass armour off some bloke I killed. Apparently glass is better and lighter, right? But I'm only Apprentice in Light Armour. So:
1. am I better off using my Orcish armour for protection because I'm a novice in light armour? 2. I have a high sneak skill. Will moving to glass armour affect my sneak because I'm a novice in glass? 3. I hear my encumbrance goes up if I am wearing armour I am not skilled in? 4. is it worth it for me changing to glass? I have a high Strength so the extra weight of Orcish isn't a huge problem. |
1. Try equipping yourself with both sets and check your armour rating before and after. While you're at it, check your movement speed.
2. AFAIK, boots are the only apparel that have an effect on stealth. If your sneak skill is above 50, you won't be penalised at all no matter what boots you wear. 3. What did you expect? At a heavy armour skill of 50, you're only ecumbered by half of the total weight of your equipped heavy armour. Not sure about light armour. 4. Try them both, but if you're at the glass armour stage (level 15 are you?) then you're hop and a skip away from ebony and daedric heavy armours. Both of which would be better than glass at you current skill levels. |
