I understand that Umbra is the best longsword in the game. I would like to go quest for it, can anyone tell me which quest thread that I can find it in? I have almost finished the warrior quest line and haven't found it yet...but sure could use it. Thanks

For the quest visit Clavicus Vile shrine (7 oclock from the word Lake Rumare on your map ). You'll have to be level 20 for this quest and make sure you have 500 gold for offering to the statue.

Umbra is located at Vindasel. Somewhere southwest from the clavicus shrine.

I think I ran across her in the ruins just south of Imperial City (or whatever its called) in a set of ruins. It sounds like it is one of Daedra Quests and I haven't started those...other than the first one. I have the azur (or whatever) star...which is cool. Can I get more of those?

You can only get 1 azura star.

only if you cheat and use the console command. but you trade it later in game for something (don't want to spoil)!

Quite frankly, you don't really need more than one Azura's Star.

So far it has been great at holding souls so I can recharge my magic items. Thought if you had a few, I could stop trying to collect soul gems and concentrate on capturing souls. Or is there a place where I can buy more soul gems of higher caliber or rating? Plus how do I use the gems to upgrade my armor?

Personally, I think Azura's Star is worth more to me than the other Daedric Artifacts... ;)

By the way, what's the real scoop on Umbra? It's something of a cursed weapon, takes over it's host, makes them do a lot of killing...and eventually, the person becomes synonomous with the sword...but who made it? I know it's not a Daedric Artifact...
