Is anyone else getting crashes?

For some reason any time I attack a mudcrab the game crash, I get random crashes while entering/leaving dungeons. Now to top it off, I just got one while standing still...

Morrowind crashes permanently. You must count on 1 crash/10 minutes play. It usually crashes when you change a cell (the moment when the game stops and loads data) but it can crash anytime.

For example, it is completely normal that the game crashes when you leave Seyda Neen and go to that mad mage in the sky.

As far as your crashes are considered, I have seen such crashes when you have not enough memory (not enough for Morrowind) or not enough video memory (again, not enough for Morrowind). You should have 512 MB RAM and 128 MB video RAM for Morrowind.

I have 1.5 Gig of RAM and a 256 megs video card, but I updated to the nvidia drivers and I didn't crash since then.

I don't know what video card drivers have to do loading screens or killing crabs, but oh well...

I disagree on that. The last time i played Morrowind, i got two, maybe three crashes throughout the entire game, Tribunal and Bloodmoon included. I guess it all comes down to what your systemspecs are. It's definitely NOT normal that the game crashes every other 10 minutes or so, if it were, i would toss it out the window.

But i think Luvian was talking about Oblivion here, no ?

I had one crash yet, right after I started playing, but that was because I foolishly set my resolution way too high.

I don't know but I know that I am not alone with problems with crashing Morrowind. I've got Morrowind with my grapics card so I am playing Morrowind. And it crashes.

As far as the systemspecs are considered, the only guilty one could be winblows 2000. My bloodline is OS/2 so that I am not about to invest a penny into winblows and I am using what I have and as long as it is sufficient somehow. Morrowind isn't critical for me so if it crashes, well, then it crashes.

Otherwise, the systemspecs are: Motherboard K7N2, no overclocking, Athlon XP 2200+, 1 GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 4 TI 4200 TD 8x (8x gate open), SB 512, HD Caviar 80 GB (winblows data partition 8 GB, enough free space).

I had one crash when I first got close to an oblivion gate... so I decided to put off the main quest for a while (until a patch or two) as I level up in the Dark Brotherhood and get accustomed to life as a Vampire.

I had a couple. I defragged my drive, and messed around with my Windows Services (both of which I was going to do anyway,) and I just played about 1.5 hours of main quest with no problem.

Luvian 03-23-2006 10:36 PM

I've been playing 10 hours today and got no crashes, look like the drivers fixed the problem.
