Looting.
I'm playing a Khajiit custom class (dubbed SNEAK-O-MATIC 3000) and I can't help but everytime I go into a new town or find some new place to loot, I steal everything that isn't bolted down to the floor and bring it back to my house in Ald-Ruhn. (Moravyn Manor) Loot loot loot. It's all I do now. I've barely even started on the main quest, I just find myself looting and bringing it all back to my home as trophies. On the balcony guard rail I've set up rows of bottles stacked on each other creating a huge wall of bottles. In one room I've got an entire corner stacked with books and scrolls I don't use. I don't know how many pillows I have and I take every weapon I find, no matter the quality or type. It all goes into my little pile of sharp stuff. I've aquired a decent stock-pile of potions and all sorts of armor. I've got an entire bowl full of rings and necklaces and in one corner I've made a small shrine (to nothing really, just adds to the roleplaying experiance) dotted with bits of ebony, raw glass, emeralds, diamonds, etc. I'm finding myself searching for Daedric ruins just in order to pilfer everything inside in hopes of finding new daedric items and what-not. I've become a complete klepto. Has anyone else suffered from this? |
*raises hand*
Hi, my name is Kyrvias, and I suffer from this affliction. |
You're definitely not the only one there, Someguy. ;) I'd go so far as to say that its a universal phenomenon for at least some small part of our Morrowind experience.
However, I tend to think that because the consequences/punishments for stealing are so insignificant and fairly easily avoided, the game practically goads one into the occasional burst of kleptomania even if you try so fervently hard for roleplaying reasons, not to. Eventually the thrill of no-consequence based pilfering wore a bit thin on me, but the nagging desire to loot and hoard (healing potions was a big one for me) never ever died. My monk never ceased to admire the sheen of Daedric armour and weaponry. There's a basic chain of causality for this: Raw Materials=barter=septims=training=level ups. ;) Gets kind of embedded into our thinking subliminally, I guess. Pretty much.

I used to, until I got some morals. :D

Define "Morals"
:D |
It would crack me up in Oblivion if when authorities arrested you, they then raided your house for illegal goods and tacked it onto your sentence.
Bloody thieves ;) Someguy would die in a dungeon somewhere, even if he was playing an elf of some kind. :D |
Or in the beggining, they look down to see if the plate is nearby :D . All those of you who know about the plate trick know what I'm talking about...
|
please elaborate :D

Reminds me of something from Arx Fatalis Sir Degrader.
Anyways I've not play Morrowind in Quite some time, it is possible to just drop gold on the ground right? If so, it would be interesting to see how many piles and how large you can make them in one room of your house. |
