LOL, still plugging away at this game. My brother said the other day, 'you really need to find a new game! Any game that takes that long isn't worth it!' Well I'm still enjoying it anyway ;)

Anyhoo, my question regards advancement in the thieves' guild. I've recently returned to doing quests for them, but they won't advance me! I'm currently at the level where you need 40 in the major skill to advance, and I have no problem with my stats. Way overqualified, in fact. I've done 5 jobs now with no advancement. Is this normal or is something wrong? I was thinking maybe it was my fighters' guild position - I'm the head honcho of the fighters' guild - does that make a difference?

maybe, I always does both quest for both guild at the same time so no problem for me.

If I remember corerctly, one of the last mission from Fighters Guild is to kill one of the steward of the Thieves Guild. But if you talk to the Fighters Guild steward in Ald-Ruhn(?), he will suggest an alternative action.

If you did the alternative action as he suggested, you will not hurt your standing in Thieves Guild. If you took the assasination mission, it might caused them not to promote you any further. Which means, load old savegame and try again.

Well, I didn't kill them - I did the alternative route. Still no advancement but. I guess I'll just do some more quests and see what happens [img]smile.gif[/img]

try to go to thief guild boss in other town and see whether they promote you or not.

There is one Khajit lady in Pelagiad, she is a member of the Thieves Guild but her missions are not the "official" missions, which means you will get some reward but no advancement from her. Anyway, just complete all of those missions that she offer and see if you can improve your standing with the guild.

Otherwise you might try to reload old game and complete all the Thieves Guild missions and become the head honco prior to the Fighters Guild. I think I did that too in my last game. On my current game, I am still way behind the highest ranks for the various guilds and houses.
