So I was at Ghostgate, checking out Dronos Llervu's merchandise (he's a Redoran guy down in the tower of dusk). And I noticed he had a lovely glass cuirass which I wanted to buy. I didn't have the money though, but I thought, how about I do a swapsies with my ebony longsword? So we hammered out a deal. Then I click on purchase. And the dialogue box disappears, Dronos says 'Now I have the ebony longsword', and all the guys in the next room come running in amid shouts of 'Die, fetcher' and start attacking me. What's their problem?! Are you not supposed to sell ebony stuff? I was so surprised!

How did you get that sword ? Stole it somewhere ?

Btw, dunno if it's you're style of playing, but i never ever bought any weapon or piece of armour in the game. I steal everything. It's so easy once your security skills are high enough. I stole every little piece of equipment right from under that guy's nose, while he was watching at me too. What i don't need, i sell to the Creeper in Caldera, what i want for myself, i equip right there in front of him. :D

Edit: now that i think of it... it's illegal to have raw ebony in your possession, maybe the same goes for ebony weapons ? But i find that a little hard to believe, since there are quite a few characters running around wearing ebony stuff.

nope, probably so happens that you accidently lifted one of the items you were trying to sell him and it pissed him off... other option is that it is the seed event for a quest that you hadnt been assigned yet.

anywho, i agree with johny, steal everything you want, but to do that you should work on your SNEAK ability as well as your security, since you need both to be a good theif.

Yeah, actually now I think of it, I did steal it; I think from the Hlaalu stronghold. His comment of 'now I have the ebony longsword' I still find quite weird though. As if that particular longsword was special... can't really imagine if I'd tried to sell him a potion I stole he would have said 'now I have the spoiled potion of slowfall!' :D

I'm not one to steal actually, Johnny! Seems like a lot of saving and loading to bother with when you're not great at it early. Plus my character isn't one for illegal activities. She doesn't go in tombs either (unless absolutely necessary ;) ).

In other sad news, my shock centurion, Sparky, that Baladas gave me died this morning. One too many pecks from a swarm of evil cliff racers. I was quite cool on him to start; actually he got stuck coming down to the silt strider in Gnisis (so he managed to make it about 10m on our first attempt an questing together :rolleyes: ), but then I recently almsivied into Gnisis and there he was, so I said hi and went down to the silt strider, I arrived in Ald'ruhn and much to my surprise, there he was! It was quite cool wandering about with a friend instead of all alone, very sad to see him go :( ;)

It's a spell that you get for doing Temple quests IIRC

first, ILLEGAL IS GOOD! cheap, and everything tastes sweeter if you know it belongs to someone else.

second, you stole it from Hlaalu vaults, meaning it would be useful for Redoran to get thier hands on it, and when you did that, they might know you were a Hlaalu, and Redoran isnt really friendly to Hlaalu

No it wasn't from the Hlaalu vaults, it was from the stronghold on the Odai Plateau, but yeah, I see your point ;)

You get the shock centurion as a gift from Baladas in Gnisis after doing his second quest. You have to be Telvanni to get the quest though [img]smile.gif[/img]
