My master thief carried out a great heist in Ghostgate, stealing an entire set of glass armour. After a long time, he managed to get to Balmora with more than enough gold to pay the price on his head. His bounty was about 156000, and I thought that the thieves guild charged half of your bounty to make it go away. I spoke to the guy, and he offered to remove the bounty for 78000 gold. I accepted. However, I only lost about 12340 gold, instead of the full cost. I thought this was a bug and reloaded, and the same thing happened.

So what I'm asking is, why did this happen? Is there something I'm not aware of, here?

Thanks, pcgiant.

The only thing i can think of, is that they gave you a discount because you're the master. :D

Seriously though, how the hell did you manage to get such a high price on your head ? Kill an entire village ?

Yes, I am the master.

No, I didn't kill anyone. You know, in the lower parts of the little Ghostgate tower, where there is an entire set of glass armour (except greaves, which many randomly spawn in a crate nearby)? I just ran in, grabbed everything, used Divine Intervention, and ran ran ran. :D So much fun.

Hmm... the master thief bit could be the answer, but just to be sure what is your reputation/fame or whatever. I think that may factor into it.

your merchantile skill and your disposition to that thief guild member might have influence it.

Sorry guy, I think I better clear things up. My character is a self-created class called 'Master Thief'. He isn't the thieves guild master, or anything like that. Sorry for misleading you. When he carried out his thievery, he was a level one character with hardly any gold and wasn't even a member of any factions.

Again, apologies. Hope this clears things up.

Level 1 eh ? That's a pretty gutsy move for a character that low. :D

How much gold did you carry when you paid the bounty? If you only had 12340 gold, that may be the reason.

I don't think it has got something to do with mercantile or disposition have anything to do with it, that should modify the price the thieves guild offers.

Nope, I had over 100K if I recall correctly.
