I've played Morrowind before on my system, but somehow (I even tried reinstalling it) I can't get it to run now. It starts up just nicely, displaying the Bethesda logo and all, and then it starts loading but when the "Initializing Data" loading is done, it goes back to my desktop without doing something... [img]graemlins/crying.gif[/img] Please help!

I can only think of the standard things:
Are you using any mods? Try disabling them.
Have you got the latest patch installed?
Did you uninstall before reinstalling? Otherwise the problem might persist.

Well, I installed the patch that was still on my computer, but I'll try and find the newest patch. I'm not using any mods and/or expansion packs so that can't be the problem either. Furthermore; I don't really understand why this is happening as I've played the game before and just didn't touch it for a month or four. That's all!

You didn't change any drivers/directx/video settings/audio settings/etc.?

I had it this weekend with Heroes IV. Just wouldn't play. All I got was a black screen. Apparantly something had gone wrong with my monitor driver. It had reverted to a standard VGA monitor. And the settings I use in Heroes are a bit too much for a standard monitor. So simply reinstalling my monitor driver solved the problem. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Unfortunately I already had reinstalled Heroes and tried countless other solutions :(

So check your hardware drivers! :D

I had the same problem with gta2, until I actually discovered that there was a .dat file missing in the directory.. ;P

Strange. Link I had the same problem after a lightning strike disrupted the power just enough to force my computer to restart. I had to reinstall the whole thing from scratch to make it work again. Not sure what the issue with your's could possibly be.
