I've been contemplating going the path of the unofficial mods. Anyways I need some opinions on these files I've found on the Morrowind Mod Library, anything that gets a bad report I won't bother with, anything with a decent or better opinion I'll check out provided it doesn't interfere with the games normal operations, and anything that nobody else has checked I'll try at my own discretion. So far I've been eyeing "Abandoned Welll at Dagon Fel"(site's spelling not mine), "House Caverns", "The Island", "Passive Healthy Wildlife"(very tempting if you ask me), "Gnomish Sky Glider", "Stronghold Ring", "DC House Balmora" (When I get tired of waiting for the great house stronghold),and "Your New Balmora Residence", also feel free to advise any others.

To be honest... i don't know any of them. What exactly do they add to the game ?

MOD's I use that work very well with no problem.
1.) Master_ Index: Folms Mirel tells you how to find the ten propylon indices. In return for all ten propylon indices, Folms Mirel offers to make you a single Master Index. With this Master Index, the player can travel to any propylon chamber, or return to Caldera Mages Guild from any propylon chamber. 2.) Mr Big: this guy spends all day on the cannel in Balmora with $100,000.00 just to buy your high priced collection of goods. His money will refresh itself every 24 hours. 3.) Silverdrake Boots: these boots will allow you to swim under water all day without comming up for air. 4.) EBQ_Artifacts: this Mod will put a book in the book store in Vivec and the book tells you where to find all the most powerful Items in Morrowind. 5.)Vivec_Expansion: here is what you get, a decent number of very carefully designed additions to the exterior to the city of Vivec, new interiors, NPCs to populate the new stuff, a new dungeon, and a few quests and lots of walk ways from one building to another. Made by : Hoghead the Horrible 6.)Colored Potions MOD: Colored Potions MOD Created by Erik Benerdal AKA Scarabus, Fudge Entertainment Gives all restore-, fortify- and curepotions unique color icons all depending on effect and type. A total of 46 new icons! It makes it alot easier to find the potions you want, fast. No more one-by-one-searching! 7.)The Real Sign posts Mod: The Real Signposts Plugin replaces the boring signposts in Morrowind by signposts showing the real names of the locations. This is how Bethesda should have made it... If you need more help or want to know about any mod let me know. I have tried about 90% of the Unoffical MODs amd can tell you which ones work and which ones mess with your game. I will tell you this 55 out of 56 of these unoffical mods work great. That's really good odds and I have had as many as 70 of them in my game at one time with no conflicts with the game. There is one MOD that I just can't get to work with the game. That is The City of Atlantis MOD. My game crashes every time I try it or it locks up my whole computer so, don't waste your time with it utill the writer fixes the bugs. This look like it may be a great MOD someday! When he/she fixes the Atlantis MOD I'll post it here at IW. [ 06-07-2003, 07:35 PM: Message edited by: TheCrimsomBlade ] |
Here's the info on the mod's I've been considering. Let me know what you guys think.
*"Abandoned welll at Dagon Fel" - Adds one very large, detailed, sprawling, spelunking, Daggerfall ish dungeon to the game world. For higher level characters. Screenpics at: http://www.angelfire.com/folk/joesfa.../Morrowind.htm *"House Caverns" - The dungeon is just outside balmora to the west of town over the mountains. The dungeon is for high level players levlel 20+. Its a large and difficult dungeon with some good loot. *"The Island" - This mod creates an island that is west of balmora. Talk to the wood elf under the silt strider, between the stairs. An Island, a residence for the character, and your character's own (very difficult) dungeon. At the end is armor and a nice sword. Also your own armorer's work area. Also some hidden stuff on the island. just have a look around. have fun! *"Passive Healthy Wildlife" - Tired of getting attacked by anything that breathes?? This mod changes the attack setting of MOST non-diseased animals into a much more PASSIVE state in which they DO NOT attack unless attacked first or "bothered." *"Gnomish Skyglider" - You will discover this handy item in main courtyard of Balmora next to the general merchant, by some rocks. Under the glider you will see some folded pants: you need to wear those as well as the glider itself. Just equip both items to fly and unequip to do normal things. *"Stronghold Ring" - This plug-in adds one object to your stronghold, a ring on your bed. When you equip this ring, it will allow you to return to your stronghold at any time from anywhere, for the cost of just 15 magicka :D I made this especially for us lucky Telvanni who have a stronghold in the middle of nowhere, but the ring will work for everyone. (i.e. it will take you back to *your* strong hold, not just Tel Uvirith). You will return near your bed, and excellent place to just lie down and take a break from the toils of the world. *"DC House Balmora" - Quite simply one of the best looking houses one could own in the city of Balmora. Very stylish, unique and original. Cut right into the hill overlooking the city, this sweet pad features a homey feel, large rooms with a lot of space, lavish furniture, deep engulfing lighting, an excess of storage space, and more! *"Your New Balmora Residence" - Spacious but not overwhelming, this magnificent home was built for an ambassador from Sentinel who unfortunately had to cancel his move. We spared no expense in opening up a hill in West Balmora near the center of town, in which we installed a two story house with native woods and design. Like all of our residences, it is tastefully decorated and chock full of places to store and display your hard-won trophies and exotic, magical treasures. Features a full bedroom, two walk-in closets, and a luxurious study area with a roaring fire. ***Obviously I'll have to check the building sites individually as different creators may have unknowingly placed them in conflicting locations P.S. All discriptions including any links were just copy&pasted right off the site. [ 06-10-2003, 11:22 AM: Message edited by: Firestormalpha ] |

Tribunal has man at arms.
Ok the best mods are the ones by puma man. They are the most popular ones also. The are Giants 2.0 and the wilderness mod. Both of these add lots of creatures. They are cool. I wouldnt play the game without them. Theres also dragons that goes with Giants. He also did a wilderness sounds package. All of these are mods that affect only the outdoors, the boring endless part of morrowind. Now its exiting butterflys buzzing. Giants and water nymphs. Fishs swimming in the sea. It does slow down ur fps a large chunk. Many of the monsters are very tough also and they kill you. The most negative part is that they kill npcs that stand in the wilderness sometimes. |
Passive healthy wildlife is the only one on the list that i've got and i'd recommend it; Guars are just too cute to be hacking to bits... Seriously though, it makes travelling through the wilderness much less of a hassle if you're not getting waylaid by everything that moves. Combine it with the NoCliffRacers mod and you've got stress free conventional travel across most of Vvardenfell. Er, you do still walk sometimes, don't you? ;)

Lilacor is a good mod. up until the voice gets annoying (10-15 minutes i'd guess). what else.....
a quick run down i like the no glow mod for magical items. i usually i forget i have it until i turn it off. theres a duel weild mod for katana/axes but the second one is only a sheild. its really for show. there are a few smutty ones that are a laugh for a few minutes. the armor manniquin mod can be good if you have a perminant residence you shove your junk in. the giants mod is fun. lots more to kill. great for a high level char to sink his/her teeth/fist/other-sharp-objects into. more fun with the dragon add on aswell there are some mods so that the higher your level in a certain spell class, the less mana spells in that class take to cast. very useful for a mage. i like the cloak collection. it just looks cool. thats pretty much all the good ones i use/have-used. could mention some more but i haven't used them as much. |
I'm currently useing the "Bloodmoon" mod...
TEleport ring is a good thing to have. And speaking of residences, balmora private tower is my choice: big, lavishly furnished, the choice for the spoiled adventurer, or the one who simply likes to show off! The potion thing sounds cool as well, must check it out. |
