Yesterday I started a new game with an archer as I've never really tried out bows/crossbows.

The thing is, with my 2 previous characters, I've never really been able to find any good bows/crossbows. The best, I think, was a dweemer crossbow.

Is this a coincidence or is there a ranged weapon shortage in the game?.

Also, is it true that enchanting the bow with some kind of added damage ( fire/frost/shock ) won't do anything meaning that it's the arrows that should be enchanted?.

The weapons become quickly fearsome with the increase of your marksman skill and with sneak.

My latest character has sneak and marksman as prior, and at a level 25, I took out more or less any daedra with two-four shots and they didn´t have time to attack me. Though Golden saints and higher are excluded to these monsters.. they are just too nasty unless you get a crit ;)

With the official area arrows plugin you can get your greedy paws on a daedric bow ;)

Or boost your conjuration and get bound longbow. 2-50 in base damage I think. There are also glassbows in an unofficial glass extension plugin that adds the glass longbow; 5-35

Dont dizz the dwemer x-bow. It is a great weapon!

I love playing as a sniper. with a high markmaship and sneak skill I can snipe and kill everything in 1 shot.

you'll need a good weapon. a daedric bow is nice. you can buy one if you have the area arrow plugin. the dwemer crossbow is nice. is does a fix damage of 30.

if the bow is enchanted with those shock/fire/cold damage it won't do anything. it's infact a waste. better put it on arrows. but enchanting arrows is a waste because you'll have to enchant them individually.

i know there is a daedra bow in some ruin......i think it's in the middle of morrowind.....but you have to levitate to get it. THe place starts with an M i think

With a daedric longbow and silver unenchanted arrows you can kill anything with one single hit if you achieve a critical hit (by sneaking). Archery is very powerful, and cheap.

There are 2 daedrc longbows in the game: one is in the fletcher shop in vivec, foreign quarter (but you need the official plugin from bethesda, and 50000 gold or good sneak skill). The other is in the same ruin where you can get the boots of the apostle. You might need to levitate to get it

If you have a daedric longbow, you can take anything down with chitin if you want to.

but with chitin big daedra will take more than one hit.

If you have maxed sneak, it wont survive often.

I find it rather annoying when you gott max sneak and markmanship. if you shoot something and it didn't die, it will run around doing nothing and make me waste more arrows trying to shoot it to dead.

I guess I'm not good at shooting running object.
