It seems to me like there are certain areas where it's impossible to sneak. I mean I can stand face to face with fx an ordinator and he woun't notice me while in the middle of nowhere it's impossible to activate.

Is sneaking disabled in certain areas or is it "big brother" who's watching?

Sneaking is only activated when you are near somebody. Sometimes it wont work because the person u are sneaking next to is very good at sneak also and can detect u

try using a chameleon spell, it will help you sneak better.

Maybe in the wilderness there are animals around, possibly cliffracers you don't notice. I usually sneak perfectly everywhere.

I think sneaking is way too powerful anyways. It makes the game too easy with critical hits allmost every time.

From now on, I will only use it when stealing. ;)

I have experienced that even though I was succesfully seaking, the sneak icon didn't appear. That might be it.
