I keep getting skill increased in unarmored proficiency but I`m wearing full heavy armor 100% of the time. Whats up? I also keep my armor in good repair so I don`t see as any peice would be broken or whatnot.

If you are cat-person you cannot put armour on some of your legs, that might be it, or you don't have full armour, or you have equipped something that removed a section and removed that.

Some parts of your body aren't covered...
maybe you have bracers but not pauldrons? or you are wearing trousers or shirt (no armor)instead of greaves and cuirass...
It must be sthg like that. Remember Kajiit and Argonians cannot wear some pieces of armor

I'd wondered about this when one of my characters was wearing a wonderfully bizarre set of different pieces. All of the areas were covered, so I thought:

1. It is a "bug" in the game.

2. The enemy's weapon gets through your armour and damages you (saving part of the damage on the way).

3. A critical is achieved which results in something like No 2 (offering less protection).

Who really knows. I've never seen a decent explanation for it. No matter how well covered your character may be.

I've wondered about this, too. However, I have found that if I've been wandering around for a time in combat situations that I find that some of my armor has broken and isn't equipped after all.

Or I think I have all the bits and don't. I'm also wondering if bracers really have the same value as gauntlets (one leaves your hands exposed and one doesn't, after all).

The only time I've ever seen my unarmored skills increase is when I was either playing a beast race who couldn't wear books or when I had broken armor.

I`m playing a Nord wearing Lord's Mail, the Masque of Clavius Vile, and the rest is covered in ebony pieces. Like I said before I always keep my armor in good repair. I carry repair hammers along with me.

It must be a bug or completely piercing blows I suppose. *shrugs*

Good thing I have a minor in unarmoured combat and my speed is in the 90s. :D

does being naked count as unarmoured?

I think it does... why wouldn't it? You are still unarmored for the most part.
