Well, extreme newbie here. I understand nothing about Morrowind (well, almost nothing, I got to be a level 5 mage and pretty high in the mage guild I guess) and I was just wondering if ANY tips would be helpful. bear in mind (spoiler?) I've only ever got up to where you join the blades, so no spoilers beyond that point pls. I'm thinking of starting the game again, which character should I play?

I'm not sure what class you prefer, but i myself am a redguard/knight, but i can do all the magic a mage can do, and have the same skills as any thief, guess i'm an allrounder. :D I joined as much guilds as possible early on the game (mages guild, thieves guild, fighters guild, imperial guards, imperial cult, temple, house Redoran) and and did quests for all of them one at a time. The links i gave you should be helpful in making choices.

Nords are the best. Mine was invincible (literally) by the end of the game. I'd say full 100 stats are pretty good, but nords are really cool cuz they're tall. They also have a lotta strength and everybody likes them

I don't like em. :D They're big and blonde, i'm a soulbrother myself.

Pick a class you know you can excel in. My first character was a scout, which I did all right with, got up to level 6 and was doing pretty well, but when I got a good grasp of the game I started wondering if I could do better ;) , so like you, I started over.

And this time I looked at the major and minor skills for each class. I started thinking which ones I *knew* very well how to do. I was *VERY* critical, because this was my second go and I didn't want to be in that horrid limbo stage where you can't figure out what to play and so never get underway again. ;) Anyway, you've got to pick one you know you're going to be able to excel at, and don't compromise. Don't pick something with a bunch of skills you have no idea how to earn. With the sign, pick one you know will compliment your class/help you out. And as for race, try and get it to work with your class, but don't limit yourself.

In the end it's all about finding a character you'll really like playing.

I like this game for the role-playing too, ;) so I ended up with a dark elf thief.

I agree with rageheart, nords is good. Nords got 100% resistance to cold damage plus 50% resistance to lightning. by the end of game, with various item you got, you are good enough to be a god.

too bad nords don't have any good faces to play with.

btw, I prefer adevnturer, this way I can customise my character to be a master of all 3 ( combat , magic, thief ).

I have played as a Redguard from the very start(looks more like a soul Brother than any other race,I'm a White boy in real life) and I'm A Warrior/mage/thief Three months ago I finished the main quest but I keep playing and exploring.
Even though I have not gotten to 100 in but 4 or 5 different stats most are above 60 and 20% are above 85 but In my Strong Hold I Have $14,000,000.00 in gold coins stacked on five tables it looks like Fort Knox. I carry $2,000,000.00 around with me and now I'm playing Tribunal and My Redguard is one bad Mother $#@&%$ at level 49. This is my third game with A Redguard and I'm glade I'm a fighter first and a Mage/thief as a second and third Class.
The next time I play I'm going to be a Redguard Crusader they are Morrowinds version of a Paladin in that they are Heavily armored warrior with good spellcasting ability and are the do gooders hunting the bad guys and monsters and get rich by plunder rather then from stealing from the rich. I want to try it just for fun.

nords are great for sheer power, my one doesnt get troubled by any monster in the game, even umbra was beaten relatively easily though he was by far the toughest single monster i could find. Ascended sleepers i tend to kill in 5 hits normally and they are the toughest mobs left i think apart from bosses.

hes also an adept magic user and skilled thief too and high in both guilds and head of warriors guild, if i ever get round to playing him through again i may get some more
