just when i thought i was going to be head of the telvani, i came to my patron after the last quest before becoming the head.
when i asked about a chore he said he's prepared to declare me as a magister of the house. when i asked about advancement he said that i am a master of the house and i've forsworn the title of a magister.
and that's how it stays...any ideas? did I miss advancements somewhere on the way?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, you are now the highest in rank ?

my current rank is "master" (the 2 higher ranks are "magister" and "arch-magister")
i did all the quests in the house except the last one which makes you the arch-magister.
when i came to my patron who's suppose to make me a magister and give me the last quest, he says he's prepared to declare me as a magister (that's when i ask for another chore) but when i ask for advancement he says i am a master of house telvani and i've forsworn the rank of a magister...
as far as i know i asked for advancement after every completed quest.so i shouldn't have missed my chance to become a magister...
did this happen to anyone here?

Have you completed the Main quest? cause by getting them to name you hortator (or whatever it is) as part of this quest could influence the advancement in the guilds i think.

I remember one of the wise women saying if i am a member of any of the 3 houses finish the duty with them first, so i did with hlaalu and got to the guild master, but named hortator of all 3 after and no problems but not tried the other two houses to see if any problems.

Or dont you need to be in possesion of a certain staff before you can get any higher? - No thats the Mages guild sorry, but could be similar, i dont know

i didn't even start the main quest yet(except joining the blades).
and the only thing i think might have delayed reaching the highest level would be my stonghold which is fully built (to the highest level).
didn't anyone here reach the highest telvani rank?

I DO answer all the skill requirments for the highest level so that's not the reason.

Sorry, can't help you with that. The first time i played the game i joined House Hlaalu, and in the current game i'm playing i joined House Redoran. But i'm sure SOMEONE will be able to help you out with this.
