This is rather redundant as many may already be aware of this, but...
I was able to boost my Longsword Skill up to 85 from 76 when I kept summoning creatures and fighting them. I also raised my Block, Medium Armor skills up 1.5 point as well. This seems to make for excellent training when the guilds can no longer offer training themselves.

simple, just go search for the master teacher of your wanted skill throughout the land when guild no longer can train you.

well, just for the fun of it... for mages only: i made a couple of trainer spells like conjuration and destruction. 1 mana for 1 dmg or one second of summon so if i had 100 mana. i can cast 100X and my conjuration increases (although a little slow) well better than nothing. and only cost less then 10 gold to create the spell. then i also created a fire damage 1pt spell and i hunt mudcrbs and keep on blasting them. it works for me

To improve your armor skills, just take a load of armorer's hammers and health potions and head for the country. Find a Nix Hound (or some critter good enough to hit you but lame enough to scratch you barely) and let him bash you. Success guaranteed.

To improve weapon skills, take a chitin weapon, which deals a nonexistant damage and go around hitting critters.

Remember: it doesn't matter what you hit or what you get hit by, but only how many times this happens. So there is no need to summon a Golden Saint to train, although in this way you can get hearts and shields and weapons for free..

Even better than Chitin
Spoiler:

Fork of Horriplation from the hermit near dagon fel. Its a short sword and does 1-1 damage through all of them. I increased my short sword skill on almost every thing i fought.
