I just finished reading the Homepages post on how to defeat the chess match. I realize that there are plenty of ways to beat it but I took the easy route: I killed the king. Game over.

Well, I startedc the battke with 2 simultaneous fireballs, quickly followed with animate dead to block all the mellee attackers. Then the King showed up and I finished him off with 4 casting of Magic missle, after that I simply cleaned up the remeining monsters.
