I'm trying to join the Thieves Guild and can't. I'm at level 10 and finished lots of quests from the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild. All my stats are between 35-40 and still Sugar-Lips will not let me join. He says I don't meet the requirements.

I had to start the game over and I don't remember having any trouble joining the Thieves Guild the first time through. So, what am I doing wrong this time?

I've had the same problem. I wanted to join them after i finished all mages and fightersguild quests and they wouldn't have me. I'm playing for the second time now, and the first thing i did was sign up with the thieves guild. No problems this time.

Fighter's guild quests can be dangerous for thieves guild joining... I am referring to the quests given you by Sjoring Hard Heart in Vivec...He asks you to do something nasty about thieves guildmasters, if i recall correctly. No surprise you won't be able to join then...

Also, are you sure that you have stats and the right skills at a high enough level? remember to check which the requirements and the favorite skills are.

TO join the thieves guild, you have to join pretty early before they start hating you

i joined first time in balmora, but you can be guildmaster in thieves and fighters with no conflict if you play it right, ie when hardheart asks you to kill the bosses kill him and you'll be gm of warriors straight away and also thieves still love you [img]smile.gif[/img]

oh btw the reason you might not be able to join could be based on race or base stats or the things you chose at startup, might not be dependent at all on things you have done since.
