Hello all,

I have chosen house Hlaalu, but am now wondering if I should have chosen House Redoran instead. I joined without realizing that once doing so, I am now excluded me from joining the others. Does anyone know what the benefits/drawbacks are to being a member in either house? I am a Breton Battlemage with major skills in Axe and heavy armor, as well as Destruction. Any help would be most sincerely appreciated.

There's not too much difference, except for the skills emphasized. You're gonna have to work on another type of magic too, though, if you want to rise within Hlaalu. ;)

Hello Moose person,

What type of magic would that be?

There is also a plug in that allows you to join all three of the great houses. More quests, more fun. :D

theres a few things to choose which house, none of which matters too much as all are fine:

hlaalu - affiliated with thieves so stealing things is the main run of quests and obtaining items

redoran - soldiers/fighters so honourably killing people or defending people and the like is what most quests are about

telvanni - kill people above you to rise to power and lots of magical quests to complete.

to rise in each you need one skill to be high and a secondary skill to be quite high theres about 7 with each house and you can see what they need on your inventory screen by holding cursor over the house you joined, hlaalu wants stealth, light armour, security etc things like that, to be grandmaster of it you need 90 in at least one of those and i think 35 in another, not too hard to do as by the time you hit grandmaster you will surely be high in them anyway. Telvanni obviously work on spell skills, as a breton warrior you shouldnt be one of them anyway as you'd never reach gm (unless a spell is primary or secondary skill) but hlaalu or redoran are both good choices as both use skills you will continually use in the game anyway.

Strongholds are the next thing if you like balmora like me your stronghold is just outside it so its good to go with hlaalu who are based in balmora, good for quests too, if you like redoran you have to go a bit further and telvanni yet again are the most hassle being right overo n the east side of the island.

hlaalu is the one im with and is good if you want to avoid fighting people and go thieving invisibily instead which some people like, but personally i go in hacking anyway and i still became grandmaster, so you should be fine, avoid telvanni unless you like magic chars plus your stronghold is long way away from nice places like balmora

In telvanni do you get cool magical items? What items do you get in each house?

nothing better than you'd get in other quests or just by exploring, houses are a bit boring apart from stronghold which is nice to look at
