My character joined several guilds early on in the game: Magic Guild, Thieves Guild, and House Haailu. Soon afterwards several NPG's would greet me with messages like "You've betrayed the clan" or "watch your back". The only missions that I've done so far are ones for the Magic Guild.

Any idea what I did to get these messages or how to undo what I've apparently done?

My character is a Argonion custom Mage class.

Thoughts? Tips?

Also, is taking items from outdoor containers considered stealing? Example: The crates around the houses in Belmora...

Thanks,
CDB

Have you stolen anything or killed anyone? If you accidentally or intentionally steal or kill from a member of a guild or house and they see you you will be removed from the guild or house in question. The only way to undo this is to talk to the head of the house or guild and try to apologize.

If someone sees you removing stuff from the crates, then it is considered stealing. If nobody sees you then you are safe.

No, I've never took anything from anyones home or pickpocketed (testing to see how biased the game is towards theives). I have taken stuff from crates outside of houses, but no one ever ran up to stop me like usual.

You can pick up a discarded beer bottle off the floor of a bar and it's stealing! Go figure . . .

i got this too really early on when a number of people from guilds said i had betrayed them yet on talking i have high faction with them and no visible signs of a problem, i think its just because fighter/thief guild conflicts, so they say alot but nothing comes of it.
